Sick children needing appointments will be seen on the day the appointment is requested. Because we must leave appointment space available for ill children, please schedule well-child appointments well in advance.
Your child typically will be seen for well-child exams at the following ages:
If you cannot keep an appointment please call us at least one day in advance to cancel. Please consider that missed appointments may mean that others experience delays in seeing the physician. A charge may be applied after two appointments are missed.
If you have a change in address, phone number or insurance information, please notify our receptionist. All patients less than 16 years of age and all new patients must be accompanied by a parent or authorized adult guardian.
Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
If you feel your child has a severe or emergency situation, call 911 to summon paramedics or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency department. Then call Ellenton Pediatrics at 941-723-7877 to inform us.
An emergency call should be placed if your child is bleeding uncontrollably, unconscious, having a seizure, possible poisoning or cannot breathe; in addition, if your child has a chronic medical condition in crisis, or if your infant under 12 weeks of age has a fever (over 100.5 degrees rectally), or extreme irritability, recurrent vomiting, or a major change of state, seek immediate medical attention.
Contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Our primary concern is safety and assuring proper medicines for your child. This involves reviewing your child’s chart and checking with the physician before a prescription can be refilled. Please give us at least two or three days’ advance notice of your refill needs. Refills for ADHD medications or other chronic medicines may require a repeat visit with the pediatrician.
